Packing Tips for Our Overseas Cycling Tours!

As you prepare for this thrilling journey, one of the most crucial aspects to consider is what to pack. The right gear and essentials can make all the difference in ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable trip.

In this blog, we'll guide you through what to pack for your cycling tour, ensuring you have everything you need for a seamless and memorable experience.



1. Cycling Gear: ⚙️


  • Bike: If you're bringing your own Brompton, ensure it's in top-notch condition, or consider loaning one from us. Our tours provide options for bike rentals.


  • Helmet: Safety first! A well-fitting helmet is a must-have. Don't have one? We can loan you one as well.


  • Cycling Clothes: Lightweight, moisture-wicking, and comfortable jerseys, shorts, and gloves are essential for a long day in the saddle. UV protection sleeves are highly suggested.


  • Shoes: Invest in cycling-specific shoes with a good grip for those challenging terrains. 


  • Padded Shorts: Comfort is key for those long rides.


  • Cycling Gloves: Don't forget your trusty cycling gloves !



2. Weather-Appropriate Clothing: 🎽


  • Layering: Weather can vary and may drop to low temperatures overnight, especially in Japan and Europe, so bring layers for warmth and protection from the elements.


  • Rain Gear: Pack a waterproof and/or windproof jacket and pants to stay dry in case of unexpected rain.



3. Essentials: 👛


  • Passport and Visa: Ensure your travel documents are up to date.


  • Travel Insurance: Protect yourself against any unforeseen events.


  • First Aid Kit: Basic medical supplies, sunscreen, face masks, sunscreen and insect repellent.


  • Prescriptions: Bring enough medication for your trip.


  • Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from sun and wind.


  • Camera: Capture the stunning landscapes and memorable moments.



4. Bike Repair Kit: 🧰


Even though our tour leaders will be well-equipped, it is useful to have your own kit.


  • Multi-Tool: A compact tool with essential functions.


  • Spare Tubes and Patch Kit: Be prepared for flat tyres.


  • Tyre Pump: A portable pump to keep your tires at the right pressure.



5. Hydration and Nutrition: 🚰


  • Water Bottles: Stay hydrated with enough capacity.


  • Energy Snacks: High-energy snacks to fuel your rides.



6. Electronics: 📱


  • Phone and Charger: For navigation and emergencies.


  • Power Bank: Keep your devices charged while on the go.


  • Adapter/Converter: Ensure you can charge your electronics in different countries. Please ask us if you are not sure of the plug type for your destination.



7. Maps and Navigation: 🗺️


  • GPS Device: A reliable GPS system or app for accurate route tracking.


  • Printed Maps: Having a physical map can be a great backup.



8. Money and Payment: 💰


  • Local Currency: Carry some local currency for small purchases.


  • Credit/Debit Cards: Notify your bank of your travel plans to avoid an anti-fraud hold on foreign transactions.

  • Ziplock Bags: Keep your belongings organised and protected.


  • Reusable Water Bottle: Eco-friendly and handy for refilling.


  • Swiss Army Knife: A versatile tool for various situations.


  • Wet Wipes: Stay fresh and clean on the road.


*In General, AVOID carrying a large bag, wearing sharp jewelry or using large wallets.
