The Tour Briefing: What We Cover and Why It Matters

Whether you've toured with us before or this is your first time, every Brompton Experiences trip starts with a pre-departure briefing. No exceptions.

We hold it about a week or two before departure, usually at our Coliwoo Lutheran office. This is when you get to meet your fellow travellers, while we we go through the route, the daily schedule, your packing list, sort out your Brompton travel case, and answer any last questions about accommodation or dietary needs. If you cannot make it to the group briefing, we can make arrangements to do a briefing at an alternative time. Most importantly, we walk you through what to expect once you land.

What we cover during the briefing

When we walk through the full cycling route together, we include the stretches we plan to skip in favour of a more scenic ride. Time on a bike should go to the best parts of the country, not the boring bits.

You'll get exactly what you need to know about packing your travel case, since travelling light matters, and what to carry in your bike bag for the ride itself. If there are spots along the route you'd love to stop at, this is the time to tell us. And if you need a travel case for the trip, this is when you collect it.

The groundwork happens long before the briefing

By the time you walk into the briefing room, the Brompton Experiences team has already spent weeks, sometimes months, checking every detail within our control.

Are your passports valid for travel? Have the correct visas been issued? Can the restaurants we've booked handle everyone's dietary needs? Do we have a wet weather plan for the route? Does your Brompton need some fine tuning or servicing before the tour? No detail is too small.

This groundwork is what keeps small surprises from turning into big problems once we're on the road in a foreign country.
