Greater Melbourne: Best Of Both Worlds

Your first hour in Australia will be spent watching the city give way to open sky, as your transfer takes you straight to Geelong on Corio Bay. There will be no rushing on arrival day. Your bike will be checked over and fitted while you settle into your room and by evening you will be sitting down to a welcome dinner with the bay as your backdrop, meeting the small group you will be spending the week with.

You will wake to a proper ride day. The support vehicle will carry you out to Torquay, and from there you will pedal along one of the world's most photographed coastlines, with Bells Beach on your right and the sea doing most of the talking. Anglesea will bring you a seafood lunch, and by early afternoon you will be standing at Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet, cameras out. The vehicle will bring you home to Geelong for a second night in the same beds, which always feels like a small luxury after a big day out.

On day three, you will be driven to Queenscliff, where we board a Searoad ferry for a forty minute crossing to Sorrento with a genuine chance of spotting dolphins along the way. On the other side you will ride the tip of the Mornington Peninsula, past the cliff top back beaches near Sorrento, through Portsea, and out to Point Nepean. By late afternoon a vehicle will carry you inland to the Yarra Valley where the first of two wine country adventures awaits.

The morning will start among koalas and kangaroos at Healesville Sanctuary. From there you will ride on through Yarra Glen to Yering Station, Victoria's oldest winery, for a cellar door lunch among the vines. The afternoon leg will take you past Rochford Wines and on to Domaine Chandon, whose terrace looking back over the valley is one of the finest photo stops of the whole trip. As the light softens you will be driven into Melbourne for two nights in Victoria’s most vibrant and cosmopolitain city.

We ride out to breakfast at the Victoria Market, and from there the day rolls gently along the Yarra River path, past Southbank and Docklands. You will loop Albert Park Lake before heading down to St Kilda Pier and along to the colourful Brighton bathing boxes, with lunch by the water in St Kilda to finish.

Our final transfer is back to Geelong and spend the day among the vineyards of the Bellarine Peninsula. Jack Rabbit Vineyard will give you lunch with a view over the bay, Flying Brick Cider House will offer a tasting, and you will pass Oakdene before finishing at the photogenic Barwon Heads Bridge. A farewell dinner in Geelong will close the tour properly, with new friends and indelible memories.

The last morning is yours. You can join an easy optional ride through Geelong's Botanic Gardens and along Eastern Beach, or simply enjoy a slow breakfast. Either way, a transfer will have you at Melbourne airport in good time, bike folded, bags packed, and roughly 180 kilometres of Victoria behind you.

If this sounds like your kind of week, WhatsApp us on +65 8925 7912 and we will talk you through it.
